  If you're not a Keralite, you may know it as the harvest festival of Kerala. But, it is not just that; it is a festival which brings us (Malayalees) together. It is a festival of flowers, varies cuisine, engaging plays and breathtaking artforms. 'Atham Pathinu Ponnonam' is a proverb that tells us about the 10 nakshatras (birth signs) which upholds this celebration. On the first day (Atham) you put a single flowered pookalam (Rangoli). On the second day it becomes two and so on. On the tenth day, 10 colors blanket the pookalam (Rangoli). There is an order for putting it too... So let me put the long story short for you,  "The just and kind king Mahabali was visited by Lord Vishnu as his incarnation Vamana (as per the request of the Devas who were jealous and afraid of Mahabali).
